Hello Saferide | Introducing... / Would You Let Me Play This EP 10 Times a Day?

Behind stage name Hello Saferide (inspired by an intelligent bus driver in a drug addicted small town, don't ask) is songwriter Annika Norlin. She'd been writing songs for most of her life, never aspiring for anyone else to hear them, when she recorded the song "Highschool stalker", about a young girl stalking her crush. "Highschool stalker" was an instant Internet hit with all of your favorite twee elements: handclaps, a Shangri-Las ask-and-tell chorus, a scrunched-up trumpet, and a weak guitar. Hello Saferide immediately got a record deal and her first single, "My best friend", featured the lyrics "Damn, I wish I was a lesbian/so I could fall in love with you." It immediately got radio airplay and had the toughest of tough men crying they, too, wanted to be lesbians. She released her debut album, "Introducing...Hello Saferide", in late September to a massive critical acclaim. "The strength of this album is that there are no weaknesses", wrote one reviewer, while others stated this was the debut of the year - or the diary of their lives.

Την Hello Saferide (aka Annika Norlin) την γνώρισα μέσα από τα καλά λόγια που διάβασα γι' αυτήν στο stylus και στο pitchfork, ωστόσο αρκούσε απλά να ακούσω μία φορά το τραγούδι του προηγούμενου ποστ για να την συμπαθήσω. Έγινε (κάπως) γνωστή με το Highschool stalker (υπάρχει ακόμα για δωρεάν κατέβασμα στο link του pitchfork), κυρίως λόγω των έξυπνων αναφορών που κάνει στον νέο κόσμο του internet, ενώ γενικά γράφει τραγούδια με τίτλους όπως if i don't write this song, someone i love will die, the best night of your life, my best friend, I-pod X-mas και valentine (στο site της εύχεται μέχρι και χρόνια πολλά σε όλους τους ερωτευμένους!).
Η κοπέλα από την Σουηδία είναι αυτό ακριβώς που φαίνεται: ευαίσθητη, νέα, γλυκιά, μελαγχολική, "ποπ", και δεν έχει γράψει ακόμα ούτε δυο ντουζίνες τραγούδια. Υπέροχα! Δηλαδή ό,τι ήταν το internet πριν τα εκατομμύρια της Lily Allen και των Arctic Monkeys... Ακούστε την, είναι η εκδίκηση της απλότητας.

ps: το quiz ακριβώς από κάτω θεωρώ πως είναι το αριστούργημά της μέχρι στιγμής. πάντως, στο youtube θα βρείτε όλα τα video της (μην τα ανεβάσω όλα και γίνω κουραστικός), με πρώτο και καλύτερο το Hello Saferide feat Firefox AK - Long Lost Penpal, για πολλούς το αγαπημένο τους.
